Our Commitment to You
You take your emotional, biological, and neurological health seriously. So do we. We design care plans to ensure your mental health is built on the highest quality foundation. Our approach to psychiatric medication management is guided by these seven principles.
1. Caring Collaborative Relationships
At Kentlands Psychotherapy, the relationship between prescriber and patient is the foundation of good care. Our clients receive active engagement: open, unhurried conversations about their medical, psychiatric, and medication history, symptoms, and any questions or concerns they bring to the table. We take the time to understand your needs and to know you as a person, not just a patient.
2. Always Following the Latest Research
Our prescribers are dedicated to staying current. They meet regularly as a team for case consultation and to review emerging developments in psychopharmacology and psychiatric treatment. This ongoing collaboration means your care benefits not only from your prescriber’s expertise but also from the collective knowledge of the entire prescribing team. You can be confident that our recommendations reflect a careful balance between the field’s latest developments and proven science.
3. Evidence-Based Approach
Your safety is our priority. In a field where trends come and go, we remain firmly grounded in evidence. We rely on published research and continuing education, not pharmaceutical marketing, to evaluate medications and treatment approaches. Your safety and outcomes guide our decisions.

4. Comprehensive Informed Consent
Your informed participation in your own care matters to us. We conduct thorough informed consent conversations at the start of treatment and revisit them at every medication adjustment appointment. Understanding your treatment plan is essential to making good decisions and, ultimately, to your success.
5. Optimal Dosing
We recommend the lowest effective dose to address your symptoms while minimizing side effects. Your comfort and your quality of life are central to every prescribing decision we make.
6. Avoidance of Polypharmacy
We share our clients’ preference for a “less is more” approach. Our prescribers work to avoid unnecessary medication combinations, focusing instead on finding the most effective and streamlined treatment plan. Strategic simplicity is often the clearest path to lasting improvement.
7. Structured, Consistent Follow-Up
Quality care requires continuity. All initial consultations at Kentlands Psychotherapy are scheduled for a minimum of one hour, giving your prescriber the time needed to understand your full history before making any recommendations. Follow-up appointments are scheduled for a minimum of 30 minutes, so visits are substantive rather than rushed. Clients receiving ongoing medication management are seen at least twice per year. We do not simply renew prescriptions over time without maintaining an active clinical relationship. If your circumstances change or your schedule makes this frequency difficult to maintain, we are glad to help coordinate a transition to your primary care provider.
